Moving images are everywhere – on our screens, on social media, on the streets. What once began on flickering cathode-ray tube screens has evolved into one of the most exciting forms of expression in contemporary art: video art breaks down boundaries, plays with perception and tells stories – sometimes poetically, sometimes radically.

A richly illustrated publication is being released to coincide with the two complementary exhibitions at the Aargauer Kunsthaus and the Kunstmuseum Solothurn. Breaking away from the format of the traditional exhibition catalogue, it focuses on individual statements by participating artists on video art, whilst also documenting the multifaceted collaboration between the two institutions and videocompany. It is complemented by in-depth texts by Eva Kuhn, Maud Pollien, Melanie Widmer and Felix Rauh, as well as a conversation between René Pulfer and Aufdi Aufdermauer.

Finally, the publication owes its striking visual identity to the design by Groenlandbasel.
