Erb Klodin. Curtain falls dog calls (Catalogue)

Erb Klodin. Curtain falls dog calls (Catalogue)

The art of Klodin Erb (born in 1963, lives in Zurich and Winterthur) gets under your skin. Layer by layer, the artist reveals her expressive and fantastical visual worlds. Her paintings, textile works, installations and videos are powerful and fragile, serious and humorous, sensual and profound. They dissolve contradictions and hierarchies.

To accompany the exhibition, a richly illustrated publication is being released that is a cross between an artist's book and an exhibition catalogue. The pages of the publication are divided in the middle, allowing for an infinite combination of images and text. The publication contains in-depth texts by Céline Eidenbenz and Elise Lammer on the work of Klodin Erb, as well as a Dictionnaire, a kind of dictionary by Swiss writer Eva Seck. As a literary response to Klodin Erb's visual world, the terms in the publication can be freely combined with the illustrations – like a cadavre exquis, that surrealist game that celebrates the art of chance. In her contribution, Elise Lammer focuses for the first time on the material of textiles in the artist's work, while co-curator Céline Eidenbenz's contribution examines aspects of transformation and metamorphosis.
