A woman is a woman is a woman... (Booklet)

In this brochure, guest curator Elisabeth Bronfen provides an in-depth insight into her concept for the exhibition «A woman is a woman is a woman... A history of the female artists» (27.8.2022–15.1.2023). The short biographies reveal surprising duplications, overlaps and parallels in the biographies of the positions represented. In addition, specific observations of selected works stimulate a changed perception of what is shown. The booklet opens up new perspectives on a specifically Swiss postmodernism and a very unique legacy of post-war modernism. As a kind of compendium, it illuminates blind spots in art historiography and complements the exhibition tour with valuable information on the works on loan and in the collection.
