In the 1990s Annelies Štrba first attracted attention with her intimate, poetic photographs of family members and familiar places. Sonja with Mirror shows the artist's daughter in the role of a 19th century novel character of the Brontë siblings. Annelis Štrba repeatedly drew inspiration for her works from literary material. In the photograph, the mirrored woman is reflected with a slightly changed posture. This subtly increases the enigmatic and surreal effect of the staging.
