Jean-Luc Mylayne (* 1946) has spent his life roaming the world photographing birds in their rural environment. He invested weeks and months in the search for the right composition. The Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aarau is presenting an ensemble of 39 works created between 1979 and 2008 and divided into nine chapters. In the context of the relationship to light and to location, a visit to the exhibition reveals a growing expanse of the blue of the sky. Each photograph exists only as a unique specimen, and at the same time, it calmly emphasizes both the moment and the duration of the shot, to make the encounter with the other creature, the bird, happen. But the bird is not the sole object of the picture; it is also a pretext and witness.
