Schärer Hans. Madonnen & Erotische Aquarelle (Catalogue)

From May 1 to August 9, 2015, the Aargauer Kunsthaus presented an extensive exhibition on the important Lucerne artist Hans Schärer (1927- 1997), whose distinctive oeuvre is located beyond a normative understanding of art. The centerpieces of the exhibition and the book are the monumental Madonnas and the erotic watercolors on which the artist worked with obsessive energy over many years. For the first time ever, the holdings of the Madonna paintings are shown as completely as possible and juxtaposed with a large part of the erotic watercolors. In this comprehensive publication, the stylistic and thematic interconnection of these two important groups of works is made visible.
